God Bless Freckles , well that old saying 'kicked the bucket" must be for a special few than, its a relief to know that our Horses are waiting for us, or indeed are still with us from time to time.

The snow was deep and stayed for weeks and the weather today said it is set to return.
This year I have been feeding hay only to the younger horses and ponies. despite the cold they have held their condition well. everyone is undercover at night and the fine horses are rugged. We have not been riding out so they have spent the winter eating and sleeping, The old ponies are on two feeds of soaked sugar-beet oats, barley flour and a hunter type mix with a little hot bran mash last thing if its very cold, this has worked well

I'm glad you like Fred. He's wearing his two turnout rugs at the moment, as it's dropping to -3 at night- horrible! I'm hoping for some warmer weather so that the school will unfreeze but it looks set to snow later this week...I hope it's being slightly kinder to you in France!
